Join Canadian Club Toronto on February 17 as we convene a group of trailblazing executives who through their individual careers, organizations, and broader collective efforts are doing the work to nurture and amplify Black excellence and leadership in business. 2020 saw leaders across Canada recommit to the important work of diversity in talent acceleration. This panel will highlight what’s working, what we’re missing, how we can leverage immediate opportunities for a better today and tomorrow, and will feature:
Dr. Jennifer R. Jackson
President, Capital One Canada
As President of Capital One Canada, Dr. Jackson is responsible for the company’s strategic direction and operations in Canada. Within Capital One, she champions diversity, serving on the Advisory Board for the Black employee resource group and mentoring many women throughout the organization. In 2020, Dr. Jackson was the keynote speaker at Boss Women Media’s 100 Women Sitting at the Table in the U.S. celebrating women in leadership and was one of 20 Canadian leaders selected for the global mentorship program CEOx1Day, giving university students the opportunity to learn directly from top executives. Also in 2020, Capital One was a key sponsor of the Black Girl Magic summit where Dr. Jackson provided mentorship aimed at empowering women of colour, especially during times of crisis. As a member of the Executive Leadership Council and a Board member and committee chair of the BlackNorth Initiative, she works to advance the Black community in business, finance, and leadership across Canada and the U.S. Dr. Jackson also serves on the Advisory Board for Catalyst, a global nonprofit that works with leaders to build workplaces that work for women.
Sandra Levy
Chief People Officer, Canadian Olympic Committee
Sandra Levy is currently the Chief People Officer at the Canadian Olympic Committee. Sandra is a senior human resources executive with over 20 years experience in human resources and legal roles. She is a lawyer by training and brings proven management expertise from both national and global organizations. Sandra has extensive corporate and volunteer board experience. She is a two time Canadian Olympic athlete in the sport of field hockey (1988 and 1992).
Kikelomo Lawal
Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer, CIBC
Kikelomo Lawal is the global leader for CIBC’s Legal, Corporate Secretary, Ombudsman and Privacy Office functions, and related policies and programs.
Kikelomo has 25 years of progressive leadership experience, including legal expertise as both a trial lawyer and a transactional lawyer. Prior to joining CIBC, Kikelomo was Chief Legal Officer, Ombudsman and Corporate Secretary at Interac Corporation, and, prior to that, she practiced law at firms on Bay Street in Toronto and Wall Street in New York City.
A mentor to many, Kikelomo contributes her time as a Board member and advisor to various organizations. She was shortlisted for the National Post General Counsel of the Year Award in 2018, and named one of the 25 Most Influential Women in Payments for 2019.
Kikelomo is a graduate of Harvard Law School and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Politics from New York University. She is a member of the New York State Bar and Law Society of Upper Canada. She resides in the Greater Toronto Area with her husband and three children.
Nick Chambers
Partner, Boyden
Nick Chambers is a Partner in the Social Impact Practice at Boyden Executive Search. He recruits executives and Board Directors for a wide array of mission-driven organizations including universities, hospitals, charitable organizations, and social enterprises.
Previously, Nick was a Partner with a leading consultancy in the workplace learning and performance improvement industry.
Nick is an Executive-in-Residence at the Rotman School of Management, Boyden’s representative on the Association for Executive Search Consultant (AESC) Diversity Leadership Council, a faculty member for McKinsey’s Black Leadership Academy, and a long-standing selection panelist for CivicAction’s Diversity Fellows program. He previously served on the Board of Directors of the Ontario Trillium Foundation and on the Board of the Canadian Club of Toronto, including a term as President.
