People Without Jobs & Jobs Without People: Ontario's Labour Market Future

The end of the worldwide recession won’t necessarily mean a return to prosperity in Ontario. A new research report by Dr. Rick Miner shows that a huge portion of the province’s population in the years ahead will be simply unemployable, due to insufficient skills and education. This will leave employers struggling to fill vacant positions and create escalating social-assistance costs for government.

Dr. Miner’s report constitutes a call to action for government, businesses and educators to address this urgent problem.

Please join us on February 3rd when Dr. Rick Miner, President Emeritus of Seneca College and
Independent Consultant with Miner Management Consultants discusses these trends and the future of Ontario’s Labour Market.

Dr. Rick Miner, Seneca’s President Emeritus, served as Seneca President from August 2001 to July 2009, at which time he retired from that position. Prior to joining Seneca, he was Vice-President, University of New Brunswick for seven years. Before his term at UNB, he was at Saint Mary’s University in Nova Scotia where he served as Director of the Canada/China Language and Cultural Program from 1989 to 1993, Dean of Commerce from 1982 to 1987, and MBA Director from 1978 to 1981. Dr. Miner has also held faculty positions with the University of New Brunswick, the University of Toronto and Saint Mary’s University.
