Canada’s capital markets are critical to wealth creation but they are facing serious challenges stemming from global and North American convergence. Governments must pursue a multi-faceted strategy, including tax and regulatory reforms, to ensure healthy, competitive capital markets that will facilitate economic growth.
In addition to his role as Vice Chair of Merrill Lynch Canada, Mr. Packham is currently Chair of the Investment Dealers Association of Canada, and a Member of its Board of Directors and Executive Committee. He has served on various industry boards and is currently a Director of McCarvill Corporation, a TSE publicly listed company, and Credential Securities Inc., the securities arm of the Canadian credit union organizations. Among his volunteer interests, Mr. Packham is a Director of The University of Waterloo Foundation and also serves as a Governor of Junior Achievement of Canada.
