Judy Goldring, LL.B, LL.D, ICD.D
President and Chief Administration Officer, AGF Management Limited
Judy G. Goldring is a renowned leader in the asset management industry and one of Canada’s most influential business women. As President and Chief Administration Officer of AGF Management Limited, she oversees the execution of strategic plans in support of business priorities, counsels the CEO on business planning and provides direction for operational and corporate initiatives.
Reporting to the CEO, Judy is responsible for the firm’s Legal & Compliance, Human Resources, Product and Marketing & Communications teams as well as AGF Investments LLC, an ETF business located in Boston, MA, and AGF’s Private Client businesses: Cypress Capital Management Ltd., Doherty & Associates Ltd. and Highstreet Asset Management Inc.
In addition, as a member of the Board of Directors for AGF Management Limited and AGF Mutual Funds, she provides strategic leadership and vision that promotes AGF’s long-term growth. Judy is also a member of the Executive Management Team where she assists in the development and execution of AGF’s strategy.
Since joining AGF in 1998, Judy has held several roles with increasing responsibility, most recently serving as Executive Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer. In this role, she demonstrated leadership in promoting and supporting the firm’s operational effectiveness.
Before joining AGF, Judy specialized in regulatory and administrative law. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Toronto and earned her Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from Queen’s University. She is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, and has been a member of the Canadian Bar Association since 1993. In 2019, she received an Honorary Doctorate of Laws (LL.D) from the University of Toronto.
Judy is also on the Board of Directors of the Investment Funds Institute of Canada (IFIC) and serves as Chair of the Toronto French School (TFS), Canada’s International School, which is the largest bilingual school in Canada. She also continues to support fundraising activities for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and has served on its National Capital Campaign.
In 2015, Judy was named a Top 100 Hall of Fame Inductee by the Women’s Executive Network™ (WXN). This distinct honour is given to women who are nominated as one of Canada’s Most Powerful Women: Top 100 for a fourth time. Before being nominated in 2015, Judy was recognized by the WXN in 2012, 2013 and 2014. Judy was also honoured as one of the Women’s Post Top 20 Women of 2010.
Jane Buchan, PhD, CAIA
Chief Executive Officer, Martlet Asset Management LLC
Ms. Buchan is the Chief Executive Officer of Martlet Asset Management, an independent asset management firm focused on liquid alternatives. Until August 1, 2018, she was CEO of PAAMCO.
She served as Director and Chairwoman of the Board for the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst Association (CAIA) until 2018. She also serves as a member of the Board of Directors for Torchmark (NYSE: TMK), is a founding Angel for 100 Women in Finance, is an active board member for Girls Who Invest, is a trustee for the Standards Board of Alternative Investments and she serves on the Advisory Board for the Journal of Alternative Investments.
Lynn McGrade
Partner, BLG
Lynn McGrade is a partner at the Toronto office of Borden Ladner Gervais LLP. She is the Toronto Regional Leader of the Investment Management Group and National Leader of the Firm’s United Kingdom Group.
Lynn practises corporate law, specializing in issues relating to the investment management industry. She represents both Canadian and foreign investment fund managers on ongoing legal issues relating to the provision of advisory services, the distribution of securities and the establishment, operation and administration of investment products in Canada. Lynn has been involved in the creation of many investment products including mutual funds, exchange-traded funds, segregated funds, hedge funds, closed-end funds and pooled fund products. Lynn is also a recognized authority on securities registrant regulation, compliance and fund governance, and has extensive experience in merger and acquisition transactions in the investment industry.
Andrew Willis
Andrew Willis is a business columnist for the Report on Business at The Globe and Mail, based in Toronto.
He has been in business communications and journalism for three decades. From 2010 to 2016, he was senior vice president of communications for Brookfield Asset Management, a leading global alternative asset management company.
Andrew’s career in journalism included stints at a number of publications, including writing the Streetwise column at the Globe and Mail from 1995 to 2010.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Western Ontario and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from University of King’s College, Halifax.
