The New GM: Driving Forward

General Motors of Canada sets it sights on the road ahead as it builds a new future.  Please join us on May 9th when Kevin Williams, President and Managing Director of GM Canada, will discuss the transformation under way at the new GM, including the innovations required to face tomorrow’s challenges.

Kevin W. Williams was appointed President and Managing Director of GM Canada Limited on April 1, 2010, and has overall responsibility for all General Motors operations in Canada.Prior to his current assignment, Williams served as GM Vice President and General Manager, Service and Parts Operations, effective December 1, 2008.  In this position, he oversaw all GM Global Aftersales business, and served as Chairman and Global Process Leader for the GM Automotive Aftermarket Strategy Board (AASB).

Previously Williams was appointed President and Managing Director of GM de Mexico, effective August 1, 2006.  He served as Assistant Managing Director and Manufacturing Director, GM de Mexico from June 2005, and GM North America Vice President of Quality from May 2003.  Williams also served as a member of the GM North America Strategy Board from May 2003 through June 2009.

Prior assignments included positions as Global Executive Director, Supplier Quality, Development and Supplier Diversity for Worldwide Purchasing (since 2000); and Executive Director, Supplier Quality and Development for GM Europe, based in Russelsheim, Germany, with responsibilities spanning 22 countries and 1,500 employees (since 1997).

Williams began his GM career in 1983 as a reliability analyst at Buick City in Flint, Michigan.  In 1989, he became the General Supervisor of Production at the Lansing Craft Centre in Lansing, Michigan; and, in 1991 was appointed Program Readiness Manager for GM’s EV1 electric vehicle program.

In 1993, he became a Reliability Engineer with the former North America Truck Group.  In 1995, he became the Assistant Production Superintendent at the Janesville Assembly Plant in Janesville, Wisconsin; and, in 1996 was promoted to Area Manager of General Assembly.
