On April 27th, The Canadian Club of Toronto and Equal Voice, will once again, join forces to spotlight women in politics at the Sixth Annual Women in Public Life Luncheon. For ten years Equal Voice has been promoting the election of more women in all levels of government. This year we are pleased to announce Isabel Bassett, Former Minster of Citizenship, Culture and Recreation, Government of Ontario, as our keynote speaker and Equal Voice’s EVE award recipient.
Isabel Bassett is the past Chair and CEO of TVO. She was MPP for the Toronto riding of St Paul’s and was Minister of Citizenship, Culture and Recreation in the Ontario Government. Prior to that she spent 12 years as a host and producer of award-winning documentaries on CFTO TV, part of the CTV network. She currently writes free-lance articles, speaks, lobbies and campaigns on behalf of women’s issues. Isabel is devoting her time mostly to the following organizations: Dalhousie Advisory Council, Honourary Co-Chair – Huntsville Hospital Foundation Capital Campaign, Member – International Women’s Federation, Member York University Library Advisory Council YWCA Toronto, Campaign Cabinet for the new downtown Toronto Elm Street Centre for Affordable Housing for Women Board Member – Moving Beyond Prejudice, (Paul Saltzman’s anti-discrimination education initiative). Isabel is also a past president of the Canadian Club of Toronto.
