Healthcare at the Crossroads

Tony Fell will offer his views on the national healthcare debate from his perspective as Chair of the largest academic health sciences centre in Canada. Mr. Fell will discuss the positive aspects of the healthcare industry as well as the major challenges it faces and possible solutions.

A leader in the Canadian business community, Mr. Fell is Chairman of RBC Capital Markets (formerly RBC Dominion Securities Limited), having joined Dominion Securities in 1959. Mr. Fell became President of Dominion Securities in 1973 and served as CEO from 1980 to 1999. He has served as a Governor of the Toronto Stock Exchange and Chairman of the Investment Dealers Association of Canada. Mr. Fell is a Director of Loblaw Companies Limited, BCE Inc., Munich Reinsurance Company of Canada and CAE Inc. Mr. Fell’s involvement in the community is extensive and includes having served as Chairman of the United Way of Metropolitan Toronto, Princess Margaret Hospital and the Canadian Arthritis Society (Ontario Division).

The University Health Network, resulting from the merger of the Toronto General Hospital, Toronto Western Hospital and Princess Margaret Hospital, is a major teaching hospital affiliated with the University of Toronto and has provided care to the community for over 170 years.
