The TSE: Taking Stock

Time and place are taking on new meaning in today’s global environment as
deregulation and new technologies revolutionize the world’s capital markets.
In the past, stock exchanges rarely made the headlines and investing was the
pastime of the wealthy. But investing has become a national pursuit and
stock exchanges have become big news.

Barbara Stymiest took over the leadership of the Toronto Stock Exchange in
October 1999. One year later, the Canadian markets have realigned and the
TSE is a for-profit business undergoing an ambitious process of
transformation.

In her speech to the Canadian Club, Barbara Stymiest will discuss the TSE’s
vision and the challenges it faces as it repositions itself in the domestic,
increasingly North American and global economy.
