At a time when public broadcasting systems the world over are under pressure, Carole Taylor will discuss the importance of having a strong public broadcasting system in Canada. Ms. Taylor was appointed Chair of the CBC in July, 2001.
Carole Taylor’s professional career has followed an unusual path from public affairs broadcasting into politics, business and, most recently, back to broadcasting. She is well-known to Canadians from her work as a host of Canada AM and W5. Ms. Taylor has also served as an Alderman in the City of Vancouver, Chair of the Vancouver Port Corporation and subsequently as Chair of Canada Ports Corporation, and currently serves as Chair of the Vancouver Board of Trade.
Ms. Taylor is a director of Fairmont Hotels, HSBC and Canfor, and was appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada in May 2001.
