Can Trust Be Regulated?

David Leslie is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Ernst & Young LLP, a role he has held since 1999. He is also a member of the firm’s Americas and Global Executive Boards. Mr. Leslie’s position has provided him with an opportunity to consider the impact of proposed regulatory changes on accounting firms and their clients — in Canada and around the world.

In Mr. Leslie’s view, trust cannot be regulated. He will discuss this as he explores the challenges facing the capital markets, and outlines the roles various stakeholders must play in order to rebuild trust in the capital markets.

Ernst & Young is a global leader in professional services. Its 110,000 people in more than 130 countries offer audit, tax, corporate finance and transaction services across all industries to many of today’s leading global corporations as well as emerging growth companies.
