Sweeping changes are affecting the financial services industry. David Brown, Chair of the Ontario Securities Commission, will outline his vision for the Ontario Government’s proposed merger of the OSC and the Financial Services Commission of Ontario and explain how this new organization will provide significant benefits for investors, consumers and regulated firms and individuals.
Since David Brown was appointed Chair of the Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) in April, 1998 he has led the transformation of the OSC from a government agency to a self-funding Crown Corporation, expanding the OSC’s resources to meet the needs of investors while maintaining strong, efficient Canadian capital markets. Mr. Brown also plays a significant role in Canadian and international securities regulatory bodies. In addition to his new role as Chair of IOSCO’s Technical Committee, he is a senior member of the Canadian Securities Administrators, which co-ordinates securities policy across Canada.
