Entering the age of carbon consequences

How will climate change and carbon policies affect Canadian businesses? What can businesses do to set themselves up for success?

The Canadian Club of Toronto is pleased to bring to the Toronto business community Mr. Deryk King, Chairman and CEO of Direct Energy, to discuss the business need and consequence of carbon pricing.

The issue of climate change is considered to be one of the most serious threats facing the world today and leaders in Canada are aware that it may represent a material risk to their businesses. Many companies are now measuring and disclosing various levels of “carbon detail,” but few have executive level involvement or have integrated the issue into their strategic planning.

As Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of one of North America’s largest energy and energy services providers, Mr. King will argue that now is the time to take action. Mr. King will provide his insight into how businesses should start preparing for this challenge and in what ways they can be successful.

Direct Energy is one of North America’s largest energy and energy-related services providers with over 5 million residential and commercial customer relationships. Direct Energy provides customers with choice and support in managing their energy costs through a portfolio of innovative products and services. A subsidiary of Centrica plc (LSE: CNA), one of the world’s leading integrated energy companies, Direct Energy operates in 21 states plus DC and 10 provinces in Canada.

**Direct Energy is pleased to offset the climate change impact associated with the energy used to power this event.**
