A SPECIAL CANADIAN CLUB EVENING IN ADVANCE OF XVI INTERNATIONAL AIDS CONFERENCE.
Please join Noella Milne, President of the Canadian Club, as we partner with Dignitas International in the global fight against AIDS. This special evening at MaRS will include a reception, light dinner and music.
We’ll kick off the night with a short address by Dr. Janice Gross Stein, Director of the Munk Centre for International Studies, University of Toronto. Dr. James Orbinski will then share the story of Dignitas’ pioneering community-based work in the treatment and fight against AIDS in Africa.
Music for the evening will include a performance by Grammy Award-winner Sarah McLachlan, who has sold more than 22 million albums worldwide. And while you enjoy cocktails, listen to the haunting sounds of Ugandan-born Achilla Orru, who will transport you to his native lands through his mastery of the African thumb-piano.
This August, the spotlight will be on Toronto as more than 22,000 participants from government, the sciences, national and international AIDS organizations and people living with AIDS converge on this city for the XVI International AIDS Conference. Join us to lend your support in advancing the collective response to this pandemic.
NOTE: Seating is theatre style for this event. No tables.
