Third Annual Women in Public Life Luncheon

The Canadian Club of Toronto and Equal Voice are pleased to announce the third annual Women in Public Life Luncheon. On May 26th, Frances Lankin, the President and Chief Executive Officer of United Way of Greater Toronto, will be our keynote speaker and EVE award recipient.

First elected in 1990, Frances Lankin was MPP for the Toronto riding of Beaches-East York and served in the Rae government as Minister of Government Services and Chair of the Management Board, then subsequently Minister of Health and Minister of Economic Development and Trade. She served as MPP for 11 years until she joined the United Way in 2001.

As President and CEO of the United Way of Greater Toronto, Frances has spearheaded a number of initiatives to improve create a healthier and safer city for all Torontonians through a number of initiatives, including focused attention on poverty in Toronto’s underserved inner suburbs and increasing the reach of United Way of Greater Toronto’s fundraising operations.

Frances Lankin’s keynote will provide snapshots of her life in politics, the unique challenges she’s faced, and her triumphs as a woman in public office, as well as the need for and the way to achieve the goal of women winning more elected offices throughout Canada.
