Please join The Canadian Club of Toronto on Tuesday, May 18th, when George Cope President and Chief Executive Officer of Bell Canada and BCE speaks at our podium.

Appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of BCE and Bell Canada in July 2008, George Cope is transforming Canada’s largest communications company with a strategy of intense broadband network and service innovation. Bell recently launched a world-leading mobile broadband network and is investing in advanced fibre deployments to enable advanced Internet, television and business broadband services.

Mr. Cope has served the Canadian communications industry for 25 years. He joined Bell in 2005 as President and Chief Operating Officer, previously serving as President and CEO of Telus Mobility from 2000 to 2005. He was President and CEO of national wireless carrier Clearnet Communications for 13 years before its 2000 acquisition by Telus in what remains the largest telecommunications transaction in Canadian history.

Mr. Cope is a Director of Bank of Montreal, Bell Aliant Regional Communications Income Fund and NII Holdings Inc. A recipient of Canada’s Top 40 Under 40 award, Mr. Cope holds an HBA from University of Western Ontario and serves on the university’s Richard Ivey School of Business advisory board.
