Since being appointed Governor of the Bank of Canada in 1994 Gordon Thiessen has overseen some challenging economic times — both in Canada and abroad — but his work in bringing inflation under control and presiding over the longest economic expansion in Canada since the 1960s has brought him widespread respect.
