New Mandate of Ontario's 28th Lieutenant Governor

The Honourable David C. Onley is Ontario’s 28th Lieutenant Governor. In his 22-year career with Citytv, he was the first senior newscaster in Canada with a visible disability.

Throughout his career he has worked tirelessly to improve accessibility for all. He has chaired the Accessibility Standards Advisory Council for the Government of Ontario and served on the SkyDome Accessibility Council and the Air Canada Centre Accessibility Committee. He has assisted the Muki Baum Association for Multiple Disabilities, the Ontario March of Dimes, Variety Village, the Canadian Foundation for Physically Disabled Persons, and the Centre for Independent Living in Toronto. He has shown that ability outshines disability.

HIs experience with polio and post-polio syndrome, his successful career as a broadcaster, and his appointment as Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, have all made David Onley an inspiring role model and a champion for people living with disabilities. As our new Lieutenant Governor, he will raise awareness about disability issues throughout the province. He joins us on Monday, November 19th to discuss his exciting mandate.
