Lieutenant Governor of Ontario

The Honourable Hilary M. Weston is Ontario’s 26th Lieutenant Governor since Confederation, and only the second woman to hold this vice-regal position in the province. Since her installation on January 24th, 1997, Mrs. Weston has devoted herself to celebrating the achievements of people across the province, especially those of volunteers, women and young people.

Among Her Honour’s many contributions during her term have been the establishment of the Hilary M. Weston Foundation for Youth and the introduction of the Lieutenant Governor’s Community Volunteer Awards. Her Honour has also established the practice of holding the annual New Year’s Levee in communities outside Toronto in alternating years.

Almost four years ago to the day, on December 8th, 1997, the Lieutenant Governor addressed the Canadian Club reflecting on her first year in office. The Club is delighted that Her Honour will address its members and guests in what will likely be the last major public address of her mandate.
