Report Card on Reaching Higher

From the beginning of its mandate, the McGuinty government set its sights on building a post-secondary education system that could compete with the best in the world. The government’s 5-year Reaching Higher plan to transform Ontario’s higher education system was launched in 2005 with an investment of $6.2 billion – the biggest single government investment in post-secondary education in almost half a century.

Accessibility, quality and accountability have been the guiding principles.

And now, the results of the transformation are in.

On January 18th, The Canadian Club of Toronto is proud to bring to the business community the Hon. John Milloy, Ontario’s Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities to outline the success of the government’s Reaching Higher plan and discuss post-secondary education in the years ahead.

John Milloy was first elected Member of Provincial Parliament for Kitchener Centre in 2003. He was re-elected in 2007 and appointed Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities on October 30, 2007. Minister Milloy was appointed Minister of Research and Innovation in June, 2009 and currently holds a dual portfolio.
