The Chief Justice of Ontario will be addressing the challenges facing a democratic society and the administration of justice in a period of emergency.
Roy McMurtry was appointed Chief Justice of Ontario in 1996, after having previously served as both Chief Justice and Associate Chief Justice of the Ontario Court of Justice. His illustrious legal career spans more than forty years, following graduation from Osgoode Hall in 1958, and has included serving as a practising lawyer, and as Attorney-General and Solicitor General of Ontario.
In addition, Chief Justice McMurtry has also served as Canada’s High Commissioner to Britain, as Chairman and CEO of the Canadian Football League, President of the Osgoode Society, and is the recipient of numerous honorary doctorates.
