In the 30th anniversary year of TVOntario, Chair and CEO Isabel Bassett will talk about the unique role TVOntario has to play in the cultural and educational life of the province and the organization’s exciting future in new media.
Established in 1970, TVOntario’s mission is to support lifelong learning in Ontario by providing quality educational programming services in English and French using television and other communications technologies.
Isabel Bassett was appointed Chair and CEO of TVOntario in December, 1999. She came to the position with an extensive background in broadcast journalism, teaching and public service. Active in the community, Ms. Bassett has served as Chair of the Board of Governors of Ryerson Polytechnic University, the National Co-chair of The James Robinson Johnston Chair in Black Canadian Studies at Dalhousie University, and President of the Canadian Club of Toronto, among many other activities.
