Entrepreneurs Without Borders?

According to the Business Development Bank of Canada, an astonishing 99% of businesses in our country are small or medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). What impact does this have on Canada’s place in the competitive global market?

Please join us on Monday, October 20th, to kick off Small Business Week when Mr. Jean-Rene Halde, President & Chief Executive Officer of the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) sits down with BNN’s Amanda Lang in a one-on-one discussion about how small and medium-sized enterprises are adjusting to the globalized marketplace.

In what promises to be an interactive discussion, Mr. Halde will share the results of new research on how Canadian SMEs strive to become globally competitive by internationalizing their business models including the utilization of global supply chains.

He will also outline the challenges faced by today’s SMEs and how those challenges directly impact their long-term success and future.

Small Business Week was created by the Business Development Bank of Canada in 1979 to pay tribute to Canada’s entrepreneurs by celebrating their successes and recognizing the growing contribution this sector makes to the economy.

Jean-Rene Halde has more than 30 years of management experience and, since 1979, has held CEO positions in leading companies, including Metro-Richelieu Inc., Culinar Inc. and Livingston Group Inc. He joined BDC as President & CEO in June 2005.
