Mobilizing the Power of Sport to Shape the World

As a speed-skater, Johann Koss won four Olympic Gold Medals, set eleven world records and won numerous World Cups and National championships. However, Johann’s significant achievements on the ice have since been eclipsed by his efforts on behalf of Right to Play http://www.righttoplay.com,
a humanitarian organization committed to improving the lives of the most disadvantaged children around the world through sport and play.

On February 23, Johann will discuss how some of the world’s leading athletes (including Silken Laumann, Marni McBean and Swiss skiing sensation Vreni Schneider) are positively affecting change in some of the most troubled spots on earth. Citing examples from around the globe, Johann will highlight the success of sport-based programs, designed to foster healthy child development and build the foundations for peace. For example, sport is building bridges between Palestinian and Israeli communities in the Middle East and sport is now being used across Africa as an innovative new teaching tool for HIV prevention.

This is one sports story that’s bound to leave you feeling good for a change. So, please bring your clients and colleagues and join us for lunch with one of Time Magazine’s “100 Future Leaders of Tomorrow,” Johann Olav Koss.
