Join Canadian Club Toronto on June 13 when we host a fireside chat with John Ferguson, President and CEO, Purolator. John will speak with Joseph Lo, Canadian Club Toronto President, about Purolator’s evolution and what has been the catalyst for its last-mile delivery innovation and ongoing success. Looking ahead, John will speak to trends impacting global supply chains and his experience leading Purolator through transformation.

John Ferguson

President and CEO, Purolator

John Ferguson is President and Chief Executive Officer of Purolator Inc., Canada’s leading integrated freight, package, and logistics solutions provider.

As leader of this $3.0 billion organization, John is responsible for overseeing the Company’s historic transformation and modernization with a team of more than 14,000 employees throughout North America. Purolator processes more than 250 million packages every year – going to, from, and across Canada.

His collaborative approach, focus on continuous improvement and commitment to organizational culture, has led the company to reach new heights. In 2022, Purolator opened the doors to its long-awaited $330-million dollar National Hub in Ontario – the crown jewel of its network. In the same year, and despite rising food prices and economic uncertainty, the company raised 1.9 million lbs. of food for its Purolator Tackle Hunger program; a record amount for the employee-led initiative in its almost 20-year history.

Under John’s leadership, Purolator has received numerous awards and accolades. In 2022, Purolator earned fifth place out of 300 large scale organizations on Forbes’ list of Canada’s Best Employers and its list of Canada’s Best Employers for Diversity. John was also named as Canada’s Most Admired CEO in the Enterprise category in 2021.

Over his 30-year career, John’s experience has spanned across logistics and transportation– road, truck, rail, ocean and air- including global forwarding, customs and high-value supply chain solution businesses throughout North America. He is a valued thought leader and guest speaker for his deep understanding of the industry and trends that influence the growth of Canada’s major sectors including health care, retail, industrial, technology and more.

Prior to joining Purolator in 2016, John was President and CEO of SCI Logistics, where he led its transformation into a leading supply chain solutions company.  Previously, he was the General Manager of Schneider Logistics based in Georgia, U.S., where he led the expansion of its global supply chain and transportation business.  Prior to that he was General Manager with Schneider National in Canada where he oversaw the asset-based truckload and intermodal operations.

John currently serves on the board of directors of SCI Logistics, Innovapost, and Trillium Health Partners Foundation.

 

Joseph Lo

President, Canadian Club Toronto 

Joseph is a partner in PwC’s Value Creation practice where he works with investors and portfolio companies through all stages of the deal lifecycle, applying an operator’s lens to create long term value. He has led significant value creation engagements as both an operator and an advisor.

Prior to joining PwC, Jo served as a private equity CEO in healthcare and consumer retail. Previously, he was an executive at BCE, where he spent a decade in senior roles in the Bell Business Markets and Field Services business units. Jo began his career at Kearney where he advised clients on matters of strategy and operational effectiveness.

Active in the community, he serves on the boards of Canadian Club Toronto, Harvard Business School Club of Toronto, Scarborough Health Network, Canadian Sport Institute of Ontario and is a member of the Young Presidents Organization. Joseph holds an HBA and MBA from the Ivey Business School at Western University where he graduated with distinction and is also a graduate of the GMP program at Harvard Business School.
