Ontario is forging ahead with plans to deregulate the provincial electricity market. Dofasco is the largest industrial consumer of electricity in Ontario, and has been studying deregulation for more than two years, examining issues and asking questions that apply to every household and business in the province. What implications does deregulation have for Ontario businesses and households? How will it impact Ontario’s competitiveness? What does a truly competitive electricity market look like? How and when will the stranded debt be paid down? Dofasco has also been asking the one question that seems to have been ignored by others: what impact will deregulation have on customers?
