Mark Starowicz is being honoured by the Canadian Club of Toronto for his outstanding contribution as head of the Canadian History Project. His unparalled efforts to document and bring to life the story of Canada deserves recognition. Canada: A People’s History is a wonderful legacy for each and every Canadian. This unprecedented television project involved a team of over 30 directors, producers, researchers, cameramen and editors from CBC and Radio Canada, and has compiled the largest documentary series in Canadian television history, about Canadian history.
The Canadian Encyclopedia describes Mark Starowicz as the creator of “the most influential news programs in Canada since 1970”, including As It Happens, Sunday Morning and The Journal. In addition to heading the Canadian History Project, Starowicz is also Area Executive Producer of Documentaries (CBC), responsible for Witness, Life & Times and network series and specials.
