Martin Glynn believes that financial institutions have to “think North American” and make the border experience seamless. In his address to the Canadian Club he will discuss what governments can do to break down the financial services barriers to accommodate a more customer-centric approach to North America.
Mr. Glynn joined Hongkong Bank of Canada in 1982 and after holding a variety of positions was named President and CEO of HSBC Bank Canada in December 1999. Effective May 2002 he added the title of Chief Operating Officer of HSBC North America. As part of HSBC’s alignment strategy in North America, this new appointment gives Mr. Glynn the added responsibility for the North American commercial and retail banking, insurance, and corporate and institutional banking businesses of HSBC. Based in Vancouver, Mr. Glynn serves as a Governor of the University of British Columbia, a Director of Husky Energy, and a Director and immediate past Chair of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce.
