A tremendous success story in the financial services industry, Michael Lee-Chin acquired AIC Limited in 1987 and since then has taken the organization from $1 million to over $14 billion in assets under management.
As chief investment officer, Michael re-engineered the design of the Advantage Fund to reflect its current philosophy and strategy of investing in a concentrated number of great businesses (20-25) and focusing on the wealth management industry given the favourable demographics of the baby boomers. He was also the architect of the AIC Value Fund, which he oversaw from inception to 1997. Currently, Michael also has direct responsibility for the Advantage, Advantage II, and the AIC Income Equity Fund.
Michael Lee-Chin was named 1997 Entrepreneur of the Year for Services (presented by Ernst & Young, Canadian Business, Bank of Montreal, McCarthy Tetrault, Air Canada and Nesbitt Burns). He is a graduate of McMaster University with a degree in Civil Engineering.
