Since his appointment as Ambassador to Canada in April 2001, Ambassador Cellucci has spoken out on many issues ranging from Canada’s defense spending to a “NAFTA Plus” arrangement. Paul Cellucci’s career in government began in 1970. In 1976 he was elected to the first of four terms in the Massachusetts House of Representatives, was elected to the Massachusetts Senate in 1984, and during his third Senate term became the Assistant Republican Leader. On November 3, 1998, Paul Cellucci was elected Governor of Massachusetts. He is a strong advocate for smaller government and lower taxes as well as a leader in education reform, and increased health care. All of these are of great concern in Canada. Ambassador Cellucci received his law degree from Boston College Law School and had seventeen years practicing law, as well as many years of experience in his family’s automobile dealership.
