Canada is one of the most trade-oriented countries in the world. In fact, 1 in 3 Canadian jobs is directly related to exports. Bombardier Inc. is a recognized leader of Canada’s knowledge-based, export economy. Inspired by the Canadian conundrum of a sparsely populated yet huge land mass, Bombardier has created sophisticated products and technologies in aerospace and public transportation recognized as truly original yet responding to worldwide demand.
Yet the efforts to expand exports to global markets are being undermined at home by misinformation and misconceptions around supporting public policies and programs at both the federal and provincial levels. In his address to the Canadian Club Paul Tellier will address these misconceptions and set the record straight.
Paul Tellier, one of Canada’s most respected business leaders, was appointed President and CEO of Bombardier in January, 2003. Prior to that he served as President and CEO of CN Rail since 1992. Mr. Tellier is a director of Alcan Aluminum Limited, BCE Inc./Bell Canada, Bombardier Inc. and McCain Foods Limited. He is Vice-Chairman of the Canadian Council of Chief Executives and Co-Chair of their North American Policy Committee, and is formerly the Chairman of the Conference Board of Canada and the Co-Chairman of the Canada-Japan Business Council. He was appointed Companion of the Order of Canada in 1993.
