2010 Toronto's Vital Signs Report

Please join us on Tuesday, October 5th when Rahul K. Bhardwaj, President & CEO of the Toronto Community Foundation offers the first presentation of the 2010 Toronto’s Vital Signs® report. He will inform Torontonians about the pressing issues and trends facing the city leading up to the municipal election. Following the presentation, award winning Globe and Mail columnist Margaret Wente will moderate a discussion with Mr. Bhardwaj and Martin Connell, the prominent Canadian entrepreneur and philanthropist, and Chair of the Toronto Community Foundation.

Toronto’s Vital Signs® provides a snapshot of the trends in our city, highlighting progress we should be proud of and challenges that need to be addressed to improve Toronto’s quality of life. The report is compiled from current statistics and special studies which look at eleven different, yet interconnected, issue areas that are critical to the well-being of our city and its residents. The report aims to: inspire civic engagement, provide focus for public debate, and guide donors and stakeholders who want to direct their resources to areas of greatest need. Since the first Toronto’s Vital Signs® publication in 2001, the report has been adopted by 16 more communities across Canada and is now used as a model around the world.

Mr. Bhardwaj is the President & CEO of the Toronto Community Foundation. He was formerly a corporate lawyer with a leading Canadian law firm, Vice President of the Toronto 2008 Olympic Bid and then CEO of United Way of York Region.
