Join Canadian Club Toronto on April 3 as we host The Honourable Susan Holt – the first woman to lead New Brunswick – for a compelling discussion on how the province is retooling its economy for the future in the face of strong economic headwinds from tariffs.

Premier Holt will share her insights on economic development and innovation, exploring strategies to drive growth, support local businesses, and attract investment to New Brunswick. She will also discuss the role of stronger interprovincial partnerships in boosting Canada’s economic competitiveness, examine the impact of U.S. tariffs on key industries and the province’s response, and share her vision of how New Brunswick is embracing transformational change to tackle healthcare and affordability.

The Honourable Susan Holt

Premier of New Brunswick

Raised in Fredericton New Brunswick, Susan Holt was elected to the New Brunswick Legislature as the first woman Premier of New Brunswick and MLA for Fredericton South-Silverwood on October 21, 2024. She was first elected as the Leader of the Official Opposition and the Liberal Member for Bathurst East-Nepisiguit-Saint-Isidore in March 2023.

She has extensive experience in both local and global business, community leadership, provincial and national advocacy, and social enterprise development. She has also spent a number of years working within government on economic policy. A champion of community involvement, Ms. Holt has been an active volunteer and contributor to organizations like the NB Lung Association, JEDI, Junior Achievement, Propel ICT, NB Association for Community Living, Fredericton Homeless Shelters, and more. She has degrees in Chemistry and Economics from Queen’s University.

Ms. Holt is perfectly bilingual thanks to New Brunswick’s early immersion program, paired with continued practice and a strong commitment to the French language. She, her husband Jon, and their three young children are passionate about New Brunswick’s great outdoors as avid hikers, runners, and campers.
