It is rare that the mandate of a major museum should include both the broad story of life on earth, and that of its great human civilizations. The Royal Ontario Museum’s fine collections and research encompass both mandates and, combined with its historic buildings and location in the middle of Toronto, give the ROM a special opportunity among the first rank museums of the world.
The ROM has undertaken an ambitious process of renewal that will transform many of the galleries and facilities at the corner of Queen’s Park and Bloor. On November 13, the newly appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of the ROM, William Thorsell, will describe the vision underlying the renaissance of the ROM to be experienced over the next several years.
